It is a wrap! We hope you enjoyed the first ever virtual St.Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference as much as we did! For those of you who were not there, we would like to share a few highlights with you:

  • more than 3300 participants joined us for the scientific live sessions and the consensus meeting between 17 and 21 March 2021
  • more than 510 audience questions were asked during the live discussion sessions and consensus meeting
  • several awards were conferred, including three St.Gallen Oncology Conferences Best Poster Awards 2021
  • and over 70 faculty members connected virtually to lecture and to discuss very specific treatment issues for women with early breast cancer

Recap of the final two conference days:
Saturday noon, conference participants had the privilege to listen to the first Aron Goldhirsch Memorial Lecture, installed to honour and remember Aron as one of the first  and long standing core members of the St.Gallen Breast Cancer Conference team. David Cameron, chair of the Breast International Group, presented Aron as a wonderful college, talented teacher, hard working physician as well as intellectual researcher providing major input to countless research projects.

On Sunday noon, the 10th St.Gallen Breast Cancer Award was conferred to Professor Philip Poortmans from Belgium for his exceptional contributions to practice and research in Radio-Oncology. Congratulations!

The St.Gallen Consensus Panel Session was split up in two afternoon sessions over the weekend – considering participants joining from all over the world with different time zones. Eric Winer from Boston skillfully moderated the sessions and greatly adapted to the new virtual format. Around 60 experts from all continents discussed and commented an extended set of thoughtfully prepared questions as well as numerous questions asked live by the audience to advance topical early breast cancer treatment. We hope you enjoyed the interactive consensus sessions as much as we did!

Save the date!
While we are happy to look back on a very successful virtual conference, we are very excited to announce that the 18th St.Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference will take place from 15 – 18 March 2023 in Vienna. Stay tuned for more!
