Our dear friend Professor Aron Goldhirsch passed away on February 26 at the age of 73. We are very sad.

For around three decades , Aron was a most valued member of the international core team of the St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference. He was very active in the development of the scientific programme, in the construction of an inspiring consensus session and in co-authoring the world known St.Gallen Breast Cancer Consensus Guidelines. His services and compassion for this unique event are unmeasurable and our feelings of thankfulness are deep. Together with Aron, the Foundation SONK was able to distribute the knowledge about personalised breast cancer treatment and care worldwide. In 2013 he was the recipient of the most deserved St.Gallen Breast Cancer Award. We remember him as a wonderful, warm-hearted, wise college and friend, as a skilled physician, scientist and teacher. He receives a special place in our memories and the St.Gallen Breast Cancer Conference will honour him with a Aron Goldhirsch Memorial Lecture. We will miss him for ever.
