11th ICAPS Conference "Cancer Prevention:

Targeting Infection, Inflammation and the Immune System"

welcome

The International Cancer Prevention Society (ICAPS) and the UK Therapeutic Cancer Prevention Network (UKTCPN) invite you to attend the 11th ICAPS Conference "Cancer Prevention: Targeting Infection, Inflammation and the Immune System", in London UK, on September 9th - 10th, 2019.

The Organizing Committee for this conference includes:

conference goals

Formal presentations given by international leaders in infection-, inflammation- and immune system-based cancer prevention strategies, oral abstract presentations, poster sessions, panel discussions, and interactive sessions for junior researchers will be included. A key goal of this conference is to facilitate interaction among scientists, stimulate research collaborations, and introduce in-training scientists to the field of cancer prevention in order to promote the education and development of early investigators and minority researchers who will reduce cancer incidence and mortality in the future. To facilitate this, we have multiple activities planned, including a session of selected abstract oral presentations, and a welcome cocktail and networking reception on day 1, and 2 informal poster walks, and meet the faculty sessions on days 1 and 2.

For additional information, see our conference flyer and program.

conference topics

We have brought together experts from around the world to present cutting-edge discoveries in cancer prevention strategies that target infection, inflammation and the immune system. Our invited speakers will cover topics across the full spectrum from basic biology to clinical applications and population level strategies, including:

  • Targeting inflammation
  • Targeting cytokine pathways
  • Aspirin for the prevention of cancer
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) prevention
  • Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication
  • Cancer prevention using checkpoint inhibitors
  • Development of vaccines for cancer prevention
  • Immunoprevention of pancreatic cancer
  • Vaccines to prevent breast cancer
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines
  • Selected abstract oral presentations
  • Panel discussion – see description below

This conference will conclude with a panel discussion focused on options for inflammation-based chemoprevention and immunoprevention of cancer, and whether we ready for Phase II and III cancer prevention trials.

specific aims

The specific aims of the 2019 annual ICAPS Conference are:

  1. Present novel cancer prevention strategies that target infection, inflammation and the immune system.

  2. Facilitate interaction among cancer prevention scientists.  These interactions will stimulate research collaborations, introduce scientists and clinicians currently in training to the cancer prevention community.

  3. Evaluate current evidence relating to infection-, inflammation- and immune system-based strategies for cancer prevention, and produce consensus recommendations for these strategies in cancer prevention.
